According to liberal ideology, America does not deserve to exist, because it is on stolen land. Americans were first to the moon. If we establish bases there, those will be on stolen land too — to judge from recent comments by Rebecca Allen, codirector of the Space Technology and Industry Institute at Australia’s Swinburne University of Technology.

A SpaceX rocket is set to slam into the moon on Wednesday after drifting for more than a year, creating a crater and sending a plume of dust and debris into space.

Sure enough, the rocket hit the moon. SpaceX is the creation of the great countermoonbat Elon Musk, so of course academia disapproves of its activities.

Dr Allen was asked whether she was concerned about the impact or the growing problem of space junk.

‘The moon is something that has fascinated us,’ she said.

‘It’s deeply rooted to Indigenous sky country and storytelling and so we want to respect the fact that this is not just something for us to go and explore.’

If we could all be a little more Indigenous, we would be too busy crapping in the bushes and beating each other on the head with rocks to create rockets to the moon, so there would be no need to fret about violations of the lunar environment.

Using a legal-sociological framework, this transdisciplinary study seeks to engage in a three-pronged examination: a.) how, paying special mind to the unique challenges in each context, Black LBQ womxn in Kenya and South Africa have employed legal mobilization to advance their rights and improve their lives, b.) why they choose legal mobilization and c.) the impact -both possible and actual- that legal mobilization can have on law and society. The study focuses on the interplay between law and society, thereby moving beyond purely theoretical legal analysis and into the practical aspects of making human rights work and engineering shifts in social norms and values.

These days, “engineering shifts in social norms and values” is what snooty schools are all about.

By examining how we translate ideas of political and personal identity, human rights, social advocacy and legal mobilization into specific strategies, I hope to expatiate intersectionality as lens, epistemology, method, and action. In particular, how individuals at the nexus of intersecting vulnerabilities navigate systems of oppression and complex power relations, to successfully articulate their demands before both the law and society and transform both.

Academia is like bureaucracy. Ninety percent of it needs to be purged so that the 10% that isn’t useless doesn’t suffocate.
